Crypto Exchanges Unite to Support Victims of Turkey’s Earthquake

by Natalie Christie

Today, a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey, killing over 1,500 people and leaving hundreds of buildings collapsed. In response, leading cryptocurrency exchanges such as Bybit, BitMEX, and Bitfinex have vowed to support the victims with aid packages. BitMEX has announced that it will donate the proceeds of this week’s Trading Competition to the Red Crescent, while Bitfinex is working on an aid package and Bybit has already sent its condolences. Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao has also revealed that his company is exploring ways to help. This is not the first time that the cryptocurrency industry has come together to support those affected by disaster, with Ukraine being one example. Binance, Kraken, and many other players donated millions of dollars worth of digital assets to the country shortly after Russia launched its “special military operation” a year ago. The cryptocurrency industry has once again shown its commitment to helping those in need, and it is hoped that the aid packages will help the victims of the Turkey earthquake.
