MetaMask, one of the leading crypto wallet providers, recently announced an update to their privacy and security settings. This update allows users to toggle features that send requests to third-party services, as well as the option to change RPC (remote procedure call) providers. This update comes in response to criticism over the default provider, Infura, and the increase in phishing attacks targeting MetaMask users.
In addition to the update, MetaMask also announced the launch of MetaMask Learn, an initiative to educate users about Web3 and online security practices. This comes after the launch of a portfolio manager in September and collaboration with PayPal to enable Ethereum transfers for U.S. customers in December.
Crypto markets have seen a slight decline this Friday, with a 1.2% decrease in total market capitalization. Major assets such as BTC and ETH have also seen a 1.4% and 1.8% decrease, respectively. Despite this, crypto markets have gained 35% since the beginning of 2023, but are currently facing resistance at current price levels.
