Bitcoin Fails to Break $25K, Filecoin Keeps Going Up

by Brian Armstrong

The past week has been a volatile one for Bitcoin, with the asset attempting to breach the $25,000 mark twice, only to be pushed back down both times. As of now, BTC is trading at around $24,500, with its market capitalization remaining at $475 billion and its dominance over the altcoins still at 42.5%.

Meanwhile, Filecoin has been the star of the altcoins, having registered three consecutive days of double-digit price increases and an overall surge of more than 70% in the past seven days. Other notable gainers from the larger-cap alts include Chainlink, HBAR, VET, and GRT, all of which have increased by around 7% in a day.

The top 10 altcoins have been relatively calm, with Ethereum, Binance Coin, Ripple, Polygon, OKB, and Shiba Inu seeing minor price declines, and Cardano, Dogecoin, Polkadot, and Solana charting insignificant gains. The cumulative market capitalization of all cryptocurrency assets has remained at just over $1.1 trillion on CoinMarketCap.
